Students for Sensible Drug Policy UK is part of an international network of young people and students that originally started out in the United States.

Students for Sensible Drug Policy UK was founded by a small group of students at the University of Leeds in April 2008. Since then it has grown into a nationwide network with chapters all over the country and gaining widespread recognition as the voice of students and young people working towards better drug policies.

We run educational initiatives, training events and an annual conference every year which is the focal point for all of our years activities and growth.

Ethos

To build a healthier and more tolerant society where young people are equipped with the skills and knowledge to make better choices about drugs.
To educate and inform the public about the interconnections between drug policy on a local, national and international level.
To raise awareness that drug policy sits on the intersection of numerous issues including health policy, human rights, international development and ending social discrimination.
To promote drug policies based on evidence, human rights and tolerance.

Activities

To educate young people in drug issues with a special focus on engaging those experiencing social disadvantage.
To build the leadership skills of young people through promoting civic participation and providing advocacy training.
To inform the media, policy makers and the wider public of the impact of drugs and drug policies on young people.
